Legendary Comic, Dick Gregory, Highlights “Taking It Back” at the Ritz Theater

High Point, N.C., January 12, 2017. In honor of Black History Month, Grace & Inspiration Productions will bring to the Historic Ritz Theater, “Taking It Back!,” featuring the wisdom and humor of the legendary Dick Gregory. Dr. Gregory is an internationally-known Civil Rights Advocate, social humorist, humanitarian, and health advocate. His remarkable life was recently portrayed in the off-Broadway play, Turn Me Loose, a one-man show produced by John Legend and starring Scandal’s Joe Morton.

“I am very honored that Dr. Gregory has agreed to headline this production,” said Grace & Inspiration founder, William I. Brown. Brown continued, “Dick Gregory not only played an important part in our Black History, but he also brings his insightful commentary sprinkled with his one-of-a-kind humor to current political and social topics.”

Brown chose the Historic Ritz Theater because of its longstanding community significance and to highlight Washington Street Historic District. Partial proceeds will benefit the High Point Fine Arts Guild renovation project located within the district.

“Taking It Back!” will also showcase the G&I ensemble of artists.

There will be a highly entertaining pre-show featuring the review of the gospel according to Thomas Dorsey, Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland and Andraé Crouch. The main event will review Motown’s collection, “Songs In The Key of Life,” sung by Stevie Wonder, and Epic’s “Rock With You,” sung by Michael Jackson.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 704-213-3358, or through the website, GraceAndInspiration.com. Tickets can also be purchased through Eventbrite.com, search “Grace & Inspiration presents Taking it Back! With Dick Gregory”.
